Are you ready for hospital?

Most people can think about only one thing during their pregnancy – their baby. Despite this, many women come to hospital completely unprepared with nothing that they will actually need for the occasion! The likelihood is that you will be coming in to hospital when you are between 36 and 39 weeks pregnant so you need to make sure you are well ready by that time.

The most important things are your crib, your car seat, and your over night bag. The first two are self explanatory, but the overnight bag has to have the right things packed away. You will need about six pairs of old pants, a front opening nightie, a dressing gown, some slippers, you will need a wash bag with all of your toiletries in it, you will also need some dark towels for the labour, some money to use a phone if needs be, some money for the parking meter, because you could be there for a while! You will also need to pack for yourself a nice loose comfortable outfit for you to wear at the hospital during the day, you will need a couple of very loose fitting tee shirts for the labour, and you should also pack some reading material such as books or magazines to help you through the labour.

After all is done, you will of course need some provisions for your new child too. Don’t forget to pack nappies, wet wipes and a couple of outfits for the child.
