Natural Skin Care – Men’s Health

November 30th, 2009 -- Posted in Men's Health | No Comments »
Don’t be fooled by the stereotype of a man who doesn’t care about the way he looks. Modern men are just as (or at least almost) as concerned with their appearance as women. And healthy skin is a fundamental part of looking great.

For men, skin care is a mere afterthought. Beyond the world of shaving their faces, it is rare for a man to devote time to his skin.

Yeah right! These days, skin care is no longer just a woman’s concern. We are in the 21st century, and the pressure is on for man to take care of himself. Men are increasingly aware and concerned about the health of their skin. More men than ever are interested in taking care of their skin, and ensuring that they maintain their youthful looks for as long as possible.

Fighting the signs of Aging

Man’s blooming desire for beautiful skin is a 4 billion pound industry. So why are men beginning to catch up with women’s interest in beauty products?

Most importantly, everyone wants to retain youthful skin for as long as possible. Along with drinking plenty of water and eating a healthy diet, moisturizing and nurturing the skin is the best way to grow old gracefully.

As we mature, the elastic and collagen, which is the connective tissues that give skin its firmness and elasticity, begin to disappear. Proper skin care is essential to keep this process at bay for as long as possible.

Choosing Organic?

Many men are reacting to chemicals in mainstream grooming products. This is leading them to increasingly convert to organic products that aren’t toxic to their bodies and won’t cause a reaction on their skin.

Natural Remedies – Men’s Health

November 25th, 2009 -- Posted in Men's Health | No Comments »
Men don’t need natural remedies, they don’t get sick. That of course is a myth. The remedies for most things of course, are the same for men or women, but as women have special needs, so do men.
Prostrate problems are the special problems that men have. Prostrate Cancer and Prostatitis are the most common.
Prostatitis is the inflammation of the prostate and is usually caused by stress, excessive use of alcohol, to many caffeine rich products or lack of exercise. Any or all of the previous can cause prostatitis. The good news is that prostatitis responds well to natural remedies.

Exercise and diet are the best natural remedies for anything, but they work wonders for the prostrate. Exercise is said to send prostrate cancer running. We live in a sedentary world. To many work at desk jobs or even factory jobs where there is little movement. A brisk walk or a workout of at least 20 minutes a day is essential for a healthy body.
The symptoms of Prostatitis

Painful *********

Difficulty in emptying the bladder completely

********* during the night

Less force in *********

Pain sitting

Chills and fever

Sometimes blood in the urine

If a man should find himself in this condition a dietary change including Vitamin E, Calcium/Magnesium and Zinc should render him back to normal soon.

For relief while you are making the changes, eat 2 – 3 cucumbers a day, and eat ½ a cup pumpkins seeds a day. Pumpkins seeds can be purchased at most health food stores, or you can make your own if you have access to pumpkins. (Wash the seeds and put them on a cookie sheet that has been greased with olive oil and lightly salt. Place them in the oven at 350 degrees for about 15 minutes or crunchy.) Also take 600 milligrams Calcium/Magnesium supplement daily, 400 IU of Vitamin E and 20- 50 milligrams of Zinc. You should also take 400 milligrams of the herb Echinacea 3 times a day. This formula should make you feel better in 2 or 3 days.

As a general rule men need vitamins A, C E and beta Carotene along with Calcium, Magnesium and Zinc in their diets for a healthy prostrate.

It is always best to get your vitamins in your foods and use supplements for a crisis situation, if you have one.

Vitamin A – deep green and yellow vegetables and fruits such as broccoli, winter squash, apricots, peaches and cantaloupe.

Vitamin A and Beta Carotene- Broccoli, peas, cabbage, tomatoes, apricots, mangos, spinach, sweet potatoes and carrots.

Vitamin C – oranges, grapefruit, berries, melons, cabbage and cauliflower.

Vitamins A & C – Brussels sprouts, leafy greens, spinach, tomatoes, sweet green and red peppers and sweet potatoes.

Vitamin E – spinach, turnip greens, Kohlrabi, kale, dandelion greens, mustard greens, avocado, asparagus, cooked oatmeal, sweet potatoes, whole grain cereals, wheat germ, nuts (especially almonds), and peanut oil

Vitamin D – Sunlight, just 15 minutes a day of pure sunlight without any protection will give you all you need.

Zinc – Beef, Lima beans, pecans, cashews, eggs, peas and turkey

As you look over the vitamin filled foods, you can see that some of them have several vitamins in them and of course these are the best ones to eat daily. You should eat 5 to 6 servings of fruits and vegetables every day. It is best to steam your vegetables, or eat them raw, when you boil them they lose a lot of their potentency in the water.

A man should eat a high fiber, low fat diet after he reaches the age of 50. At this time he has reached the critical age for developing prostate problems. A basic rule is that fat promotes prostrate problems and fiber protects against it. The fats that you do eat need to be “good” fats found in poultry and omega 3 fatty acids such as in fish. Always use Olive oil for cooking rather than hydrogenated vegetable oils. Become a label reader, look out for saturated fats, these are the kinds to stay away from. In a 2000 calorie per day diet you should only get 34 grams of fat and only 15% of that should come from saturated fats.

Herbs for male health are important also. After the age of 50 men should take Hawthorn daily for their hearts and to lower cholesterol. If you have a family history of prostate cancer adding Saw Palmetto to your daily regime is a good idea as it is a good cancer preventative. I recommend that men take these in capsule form daily as a preventative.

Garlic is excellent to lower blood pressure and is so easy and delicious to get in your daily foods.

No article about men’s health would be complete without a natural remedy to handle impotence. There are many herbs that help with this, but I have found that ***** Goat Weed aides circulation and along with a healthy diet and exercise works very well as a male stimulant taken daily. This can be purchased at any health store and is usually in the department for male stimulants.

Final words of advice for natural remedies for men are that after age 50 a yearly exam for prostate cancer is really advisable. I consider it the equivalent of a mammogram for women. You can do a self exam at home, but if anything feels different an official test is essential for diagnosis as both cancers are very treatable if detected early.

The Benefits of Green Tea to Men’s Health

October 20th, 2009 -- Posted in Men's Health | No Comments »
Green Tea is an ingredient that increasingly pops up when discussing men’s health concerns. Although it’s been utilized for hundreds of years for medicinal purposes, it seems like new benefits are being revealed all the time. According to numerous scientific studies, the effects of green tea are currently being considered for treatment of a number of health conditions, from several forms of cancer to mental alertness to weight loss to cholesterol maintenance.

To help you understand the importance of this ingredient’s role in both skincare and nutritional capacities, we’ve broken down the many benefits of this ingredient:

Powerful Antioxidant: Green Tea contains high levels of phenolic acids and catechin-antioxidants which play a major role in protecting the body against free radical damage. Free radicals can cause cellular oxidation and damage, which contribute to health problems associated with aging.

Goodbye Jitters: Because Green Tea contains tannin, it produces an energized feeling and increased alertness for extended periods of time. However, unlike caffeine levels in coffee, tannin provides a gentle increase in energy, without the jitteriness or rapid decline in energy associated with this type of caffeinated reaction.

Fat-Burner: Recent studies are being conducted on the increased health benefits of Green Tea for men looking to lose weight. Consuming Green Tea increases the metabolic rate, causing greater fat oxidation and better weight management. In fact, several studies reveal that the potential weight-loss properties of Green Tea go well beyond its ability to simply accelerate metabolism.

Clean & Complete: Green Tea has been utilized throughout the world as a cleansing agent. For more than 5,000 years, Asian cultures have used Green Tea for its healing and cleansing benefits, and Green Tea continues to be a major ingredient in many treatments.

The Full Treatment: Green Tea is also being studied for its potential role in the fight against cancers, heart, joint and liver diseases.

What You Need To Know About Men’s Prostate Health

October 9th, 2009 -- Posted in Men's Health | No Comments »
Do you feel embarrassed and afraid telling your doctor that you have problems with your prostate? This could be the main reason why you choose not to visit your doctor. Because of this, you leave the problem alone until the disease becomes serious and needs immediate medical attention.

Prostate problems are becoming a norm for men. Do you think you can escape from it? Here is what the statistics say. Out of ten men, eight will have an enlarged prostate or benign prostatic hyperplasia (BHP). Men suffer in silence because they feel ashamed to discuss about their deteriorating prostate health with others.

Prostate plays an important role in men’s health. It produces a thick secretion to form part of ***** which carries *****. In other words, if your prostate health collapses, so does your reproduction system.

One of the most common prostate problem among men is prostate enlargement or BHP. Fortunately, it is not cancerous. Statistics indicate that more than 50 percent of men of 60 years old and 80 percent of men of 80 years old experience the symptoms of BHP. Inflammation of prostate or prostatitis is another common problem among men. About 50 percent of men suffer from this disease. Prostate cancer is a “silent killer” that threatens men’s life especially when they are over 50 years old. The risk increases with age.

Which group of men are at risk of developing prostate problems? Obviously, age is the main factor. When men hit their forties, the risk begins to develop. The problems usually begin to appear when they are in their fifties and above. As the risk of prostate cancer escalates with the age, researchers report that more than 65 percent of all prostate cancer sufferers fall in the age group of 65 and above. Other observations show that sexually active young men who have *** with multiple partners will increase their likelihood of prostate cancer occurrence later in their life.

Once you know that your prostate is malfunctioning, it is time to seek treatment. If you continue to remain silent and think that it will go away, then you are allowing yourself to experience further damage. You may face the consequences of untreated prostate problem such as urinary tract infections, bladder damage, kidney failure, impotence, and incontinence.

Men do have some concerns when it comes to prostate health. The emotions they feel inside, such as embarrassment, is unavoidable when it comes to awkward manly subjects such as erectile dysfunction and testicular disorders. They just need the courage to brace themselves, and discuss this sensitive matter with their family and doctor. Leaving these disorders untreated can bring forth detrimental outcomes not just on their prostate health but also on their overall well-being.

The Men’s Health Taboo

October 8th, 2009 -- Posted in Men's Health | No Comments »
In a previous article I spoke about my research for my new health information web site, and, of course, one thing that became apparent is information about men’s health issues. In particular those ‘hardly’ ever talked about annual prostate examinations and testicular cancer.

Men don’t teach their sons about male health issues like women teach the daughters about female problems to watch for. In fact, it seems there is a taboo for men to speak naturally about any health issues between the thighs and the belly button.

And, heaven forbid if they have to teach their boys about examining their ‘bits’ like women have to regularly do ****** examination for lumps.

And, in the issue of testicular cancer, it is a young man’s cancer – so the imperative becomes critically important – yet, like discussing emotions, men, in general, shy away from such subjects.

There are all sorts of cultural, social and other excuses for the deplorable neglect of good health prevention practices amongst men, but in the long run they are simply hang ups mixed in with skewered ideas of what it is to be manly.

Youth, naturally, do not consider themselves vulnerable to death or injury, and older men need to provide the example. Especially in light of the fact that this cancer has one of the highest cure rates of all cancers.

As for annual prostate examinations – the embarrassment factor rises by umpteen percent at the thought of digital rectal examination – so nothing is often done – yet early detection gives hugely increased chance of cure. The good news is that the PSA blood test is available and it at least should be a regular part of an annual check up for men over 40. PSA simply stands for Prostate Specific Antigen – a protein in men’s blood used to screen for the cancer.

Education about preventive health care is an absolute necessity overall in our communities – the savings on the tax dollar alone are worth it.

More so for men is health education an imperative from an early age – preferably in schools and as part of normal family practice. And, it should include tests like the PSA so that as boys grow and mature they become accustomed to the normalcy of preventive health care and, the prostate (and testicular cancer) in particular.

Men’s Health – Lose Your Man ***** Now – Pseudocomastia

September 20th, 2009 -- Posted in Men's Health | No Comments »
Pseudogynecomastia is a medical condition in male humans. It is the development of female-like ****** enlargement. Although it may seem humorous to some, those who suffer are not amused. This condition differs from gynecomastia which results from a hormonal imbalance. When ****** prominence is due solely to excessive adipose or chest fat, it is termed pseudocomastia – man *****.

This type of man ***** is caused by obesity. Heredity may be a factor if fatty tissue develops disproportionately in the chest area, but the main cause for pseudogynecomastia is environmental – life style choices. If the embarrassment quotient has risen to your personal level of intolerance, perhaps it’s time for action. Lose your man ***** now.

OK, how do you know if you have gynecomastia or pseudogynecomastia? If you have the physical symptoms, then a blood sample will confirm a hormonal imbalance. Your doctor will be able to confirm which condition exists. No hormonal imbalance, then pseudogynecomastia.

What are the treatment options?

Weight loss can dramatically reduce ****** prominence. However, it is difficult to target body areas for weight loss either with diet or exercise. The wrong exercises can actually increase ****** prominence.

As a side note: here is a fine example of the medical insurance companies in action – many American insurance companies deny coverage for surgery for pseudogynecomastia treatment on the grounds that it is a cosmetic procedure.

The medical establishment offers two treatment options:

Surgery, liposuction for fatty tissue removal Pharmaceutical medication for weight loss.

As a proponent of natural health treatment methods, I can not recommend either treatment strategy from the medical establishment. There are less costly strategies which are not dangerous, invasive, surgery; or artificial, manipulative, pharmaceutical products. However, if you are taking some pharmaceutical products for other health issues, then I suggest that you investigate alternative medicines (with your doctor) as weight gain may be a side-effect of your current medication.

There are natural treatment strategies for pseudogynecomastia:

natural herbal supplement treatments all natural exercise and diet programs.

Remember the cause of the condition known as pseudogynecomastia is obesity. A successful treatment and prevention strategy must include a weight loss component which not only reduces your weight but teaches you a life style which will keep the weight off.

Men’s Health – Testosterone And How To Get Rid Of Man Boob

September 9th, 2009 -- Posted in Men's Health | No Comments »
Comedians enjoy poking fun at muscle bound men with their manly man jokes. They send barbs out to stand-up audiences ripe with steroid jokes. Some with more zeal than comedic talent venture into the field of man ***** and shriveled testes. The bottom line is that despite a small very avid niche, most of the public look upon the muscle building crowd as unusual at the very least.

OK, that needed saying before I could say this…jealousy often is the source of sarcasm. How many 14 year old boys want bigger biceps? How many 14 year old boys want a more manly appearance and attitude? How many 50 or 60 year old men want more zip in their step not to mention their *** life? Viagra sales soar…

Cutting to the chase, increasing the testosterone level will likely result in bigger muscles. Are these benefits which interest you?

-increased muscle size

-increased muscle strength

-decreased fat tissue.

-increase *** drive

-stronger erections

-increased sexual endurance

-increased energy levels

-increased exercise endurance

-increased desire for exercise

-improved mood and cognitive focus

-decrease levels of ‘bad’ cholesterol and increased levels of ‘good’ cholesterol.

Now that’s a list of benefits. These benefits are the direct result of increased testosterone levels in males. Because this list is so attractive, the biochemists have been trying to provide products which augment our natural testosterone production. Unfortunately, our body does not work that way. If you supplement artificially then the body reacts:

-starts decreasing the testosterone production levels as more testosterone is no longer needed because of the artificial source.

-in an attempt to maintain the testosterone/estrogen balance in the male, the body increases the production of estrogen.

Furthermore, when a male uses steroids to supplement testosterone levels, then gynecomastia may develop with the embarrassing symptoms of man *****. Side effects give credence to the comedians who ridicule using side effects like lower *** drive, man ***** and shriveled testes to entertain their audiences. What men for 14 to 60 want is the positive effects of increased testosterone without the side effects – natural testosterone.

Men’s Sexual Health & Lasting Longer – Psychology, Food, and How Men Can Last Longer in Bed

August 22nd, 2009 -- Posted in Men's Health | No Comments »
When it comes to lasting longer in bed for men, it’s important to consider the whole package. Think of yourself as a finely tuned athlete. Correct me if I’m wrong, but a finely tuned athlete is the “whole package”. He’s/she’s fit and they train specifically for their event, they are careful what they put in their body, and they are mentally prepared for the challenges they must endure to be a success.

It should be the same when you consider men’s sexual health. We should think of ourselves as finely tuned athletes (especially if we want to be the best in the game).

Let’s talk about food first. Understand that no food or combination of foods will solve a problem relating to premature ejaculation all by itself. Think of it like this. If an aspiring Olympic swimmer just ate the perfect diet, but did not train physically and mentally would he enjoy success in the pool? No way! It’s the same with men’s sexual health. It’s the whole package. Here are a couple of food/natural supplement tips:

–Guys that are prone to premature ejaculation may benefit from the use of the Californian flower essence Hibiscus, suggests a southern California doctor. Tension and lack of emotional connection are common reasons a man has sexual problems. The Hibiscus is said to relax the man and help restore his warmth to the sexual relationship.

– Blueberries are a sexual super-food often referred to as ‘nature’s little blue pill’ because of its remarkable similarities to the wonder drug ‘Viagra’. However, unlike ‘Viagra’, blueberries are cheap, easily available and able to be consumed in bulk. The good thing about blueberries in regards to your sexual health lies in what they contain. First, they are packed with soluble fiber, which helps push excess cholesterol through your digestive system before it can be broken down, absorbed, and deposited in your arteries. Blueberries are also high in compounds that help relax your blood vessels and improve circulation throughout your body. An extra benefit (aside from the obvious) lower cholesterol and improved blood flow is more blood to you ***** during *********** and firmer ********* as you get older.

Regarding the psychology behind lasting longer in bed and sexual health for men, this is one of the biggest deterrents to lasting like a marathon man in bed. Because of the taboo or embarrassment associated with masturbating, guys often learn to get it done quickly to avoid being caught. This is the leading cause of premature ejaculation. We’re learned to be in a hurry. We simply need to change some of our thought patterns and follow a well formatted sexual health exercise program.

The tough thing about learning to be a sexual athlete is that we don’t have coaches. We really just need to go it alone. Do we really need to go it alone? Granted, there are not many coaches like a baseball player or a swimmer might have. There are, however, some good resources that you can discreetly download online that will coach you all the way to your optimal sexual health level (physically, mentally, and nutritionally). Just be willing to be coached and stick to the program and you will find success guaranteed.

Reliable Information Answers Men’s Sexual Health Questions

August 20th, 2009 -- Posted in Men's Health | No Comments »
As adolescents, boys get their information about sexuality and men’s sexual health from their peers. As teens, locker room talk may titillate, but it provides little in the way of accurate information about men’s health issues. Unfortunately, while adult women are likely to seek out information from professionals, men are more reticent to discuss questions about men’s sexual health and men’s health news in general with their doctors or other professionals. When compared to women, they’re also less likely to discuss their concerns with other men. As a result, men are often left to wonder about issues that are common to many men, particularly questions about men’s sexual health.

Luckily, with the explosion of the Internet, a wealth of information has become available that answers men’s questions – anonymously. While there are certainly many bogus sites with misinformation, discerning men are able to find reputable websites that discuss men’s issues or that include a men’s health forum.

Men’s sexual health questions cover a wide range of topics. For example, condoms are widely (and correctly) seen as both a contraceptive and a way of protecting against sexually transmitted diseases. Nonetheless, many men opt not to use condoms. In a men’s health forum, men can get the facts and news about condoms, while also discussing risks, tips, and personal experiences.

Another men’s sexual health topic often covered by a men’s health forum is erectile dysfunction. Despite pharmaceutical advances over the past decade, many men find it embarrassing to discuss this topic with friends or even their physicians. By visiting a reputable online information source, men can find answers to the questions and alleviate their concerns, as well as discovering options for correcting the problem.

Other men’s questions revolve around more general issues, such as how to improve the libido. A forum can address both underlying medical causes, as well as identify lifestyle issues that could impact desire, such as fitness, dieting, and weight management.

Some men’s sexual health questions are very specific. For example, men’s health issues might include abnormal urethra development, the inability to retract the foreskin, Peyronie’s disease, venous leakage, and so forth. Obtaining reliable information online will often encourage men to take the next step and seek care from their medical professionals. Being able to identify and intelligently discuss a problem increases men’s comfort levels in discussing men’s health issues with doctors.

Needless to say, sexually transmitted diseases should be a centerpiece of all discussions about men’s sexual health. There is so much misinformation and sheer ignorance about STDs that men must be able to anonymously access accurate information about HIV/AIDS, gonorrhea, herpes, and syphilis.

A cornerstone of men’s sexual health – and the ability to fully enjoy a sexual relationship – is accurate information. An online men’s health forum is an excellent way to answer men’s questions and concerns, and when necessary, urge them to seek medical attention.
